Hello All;
Just a quick update from the road, this time from the evergreen/ever-rainy city of Seattle! In short, HGC has been having a blast and leaving our audiences dazzled over the past few days much to the thanks of a great group, great support, and great music.
Great Falls was a much appreciated break from all the hectic travel before (even if it was through several National Parks); much of the group was hosted in a Senior Living development where former Manager Chase Mohney hails from and did little more than chat and relax for two days. Despite a flurry of TV Cameras at our rehearsals, Jim led a focused and spectacular concert that left the audience on its feet and the sales table empty. I never thought I would see HGC's dressing-room seem like a post-victory locker room, but that is more or less what it became.
Not to be outdone, Sandpoint was truly one of the best tour stops anyone can remember in the group. Along with gorgeous natural scenery and the most gracious and generous hosts anyone could possibly imagine, the group had a great chance to swim and boat on an amazing lake. Having been forwarned of the Glee Club's hunger, our hosts with the local Arts Council truly went all out for us both nights. On top of all this, the concert even managed to outshine Great Falls.
The venue was an historic old theatre that was not the best of acoustics, but never before has an audience went so wild for our music.
It got to a point in the second half where one individual called out to us that we could sing the phone book and make him cry. Whether that was true or not, I had five individuals come up to me after the concert to tell me it was the best concert they had ever attended in their life.
The 150th Weekend was truly special, but I am proud to see that the current HGC continues to hold itself to higher and higher standards!
We are now in Seattle and enjoying a large amount of free time to explore the city and do some aggressive biking. We have our concert coming up later today, and the group can hardly wait to get going on stage again after our last few concerts. Jim was also greatly surprised on our arrival on Wednesday to find that Polly had been flown out in secret for their 25th Wedding Anniversary. To say he was shocked would be an understatement. To say he was unbelievably happy and relaxed would be an even greater understatement. HGC did itself proud by singing to them in a dusty parking lot, but I don't think anyone on this list is at all surprised at the strange locations priceless HGC memories are cemented.
Best Wishes to All;
Kelby
