Board of Directors Job Description

The Board of Directors of the Harvard Glee Club Foundation, Inc., shall set the general policies of the Foundation, approve annual budgets, and authorize major expenditures.

 

There are 24 Elected Directors of the Board, 12 Directors elected by the Alumni of the Harvard Glee Club and 12 Directors elected by the Board. Each Director will serve a maximum of two 3 year terms. One-half of the positions on the Board which are to expire in that year shall be filled by election by vote of the alumni of the Glee Club with the remaining one-half of the positions to be filled by election of the then Board. The Board will reflect the diversity of generations of alumni and of geographic areas in which alumni reside. The Directors will be nominated for their expertise in, and commitment to, those areas necessary to enhance the work of the Foundation. To serve on the Board of Directors an individual is expected to: 

  • Endorse the mission of the Foundation to enhance the voice and reach of the Harvard Glee Club, its alumni, and fellow choruses at Harvard and beyond;
  • Bring to the Foundation a commitment and expertise to areas such as communication technology, fundraising, fiscal, legal, and choral music;
  • Attend the Annual Meetings of the Foundation and any additional Board meetings;
  • Participate in at least one committee of the Foundation and attend the majority of its meetings either in person, teleconference, or other electronic means;
  • Contribute annually to the Foundation according to one’s situation;
  • Advocate and fundraise for the Foundation.
