Alumni Chorus to Japan, September 2009
Almost two decades ago, the Old Boys of the Kyoto University Men’s Glee Club invited a Harvard Glee Club alumni chorus to perform with them in Japan. Thus began a home-and-home series of performances in Kyoto, Tokyo, Cambridge, and New York. Our seventh meeting will be a departure: both groups have been invited to perform in Nagasaki in September to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the opening of that port to the West by Commodore Perry and his “black ships.” We have accepted.
